I can't stop thinking about this sugar to...Hey! I can't stop thinking about this sugar topic. As a neuroscientist and an aerobics instructor on the side, I find this topic really important. Obviously the following is just my opinion but I do consider myself educated on this topic: You can't quit sugar. Your body uses sugar (and also lipids) as a fuel, unless you are starving yourself to near death. Period. There's no way around it. What really matters is the way you get "sugar" into your body. Complex carbs are raved about for a reason, because it is going to break down into sugar slowly over time. However, my blood sugar drops low sometimes in between meals and I eat fruits to quickly bring it back up, but I pair it with fiber and complex carbs so that I don't fizzle out in another 15 minutes. And, fruits are great because they have other things besides sugar in them! There's a lot of talk about whether the type of sugar matters (sucrose, fructose, etc.) as well. There's also a lot of scientific research on whether certain types of sugar (i.e. fructose) lead to increased health issues. The science field seems fairly split in the middle about this topic. As someone who likes to be on the side of caution, I tend to not consume processed types of sugar, but sugar found naturally in food and in more complex forms. However, I am confident that a little bit of pure sugar from time to time is not going to harm you. It is truly about moderation, right? If you think you are over-consuming sugar, then I suggest tracking your sugar intake and noting down in which form (carb, processed, simple sugar from fruit) you consumed the sugar from. If you find yourself consuming what too much high fructose corn syrup, for example, then I would think about cutting back. Sorry for my long post, I just worry about people simplifying the issue by saying things like "quitting sugar". I want people to be healthy and think about food in a healthy way. There are way too many people who have a negative relationship with food.Miss Amethysthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02438318714861756007noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4656562399418770725.post-82625188641414927422012-07-26T11:16:19.875-05:002012-07-26T11:16:19.875-05:00super cute outfits!super cute outfits!Noothttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12064846647261605937noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4656562399418770725.post-22477277749128279612012-07-26T10:41:48.661-05:002012-07-26T10:41:48.661-05:00I'm also addicted to Lululemon!!! For my upcoming ...I have a sugar addiction as well. For my upcoming 40th birthday, I hired an online personal trainer who is helping me overcome this. This is what I've done:

* Ditch the soda (including diet) completely, but from what I can remember, you don't drink soda at all.
* Bring snacks to work so you aren't tempted by the vending machines and candy at your desk (those need to be dumped asap) - snacks should be nuts, greek yogurt, fruit. The fruit will actually replace those bad sugars from processed foods. Takes some getting used to, but eventually you will like the taste of fruit.
* Start the day with a protein smoothie. Can have something like banana/pb or pb and something called CACAO NIBS. Whole Foods sells them for $6 a bag. These things are the bomb! They will blend in the smoothie to give it a chocolate flavor.

You can't overcome this overnight. I've had to learn to take baby steps. Don't make yourself not eat dessert, but we are talking regular daily eating here and the key is to make it through one week without the cookies, candy, etc...You can do it!! If I did it V, I know you can do it!Wendyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00503626976228599691noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4656562399418770725.post-82918071697223239412012-07-25T14:59:15.407-05:002012-07-25T14:59:15.407-05:00I'm addicted to sugar. So if I really want something sweet, I have to go out and get it. Most the time I'm too lazy to run to the store for a sweet treat and will just go with some fruit or a small handful of chocolate chips. I also do my grocery shopping on a full stomach so I don't succumb to cravings while at the store. Drink lots of water. Eat your veggies and protein. I also think working out helps me make better food choices.

You really should wear hair up more often. I love chocolate and TREATS! :P) My best advice is don't eat treats for three days. The first two days are difficult (not even a PIECE of chocolate or anything 'bad') but it will get better. Once you finish the three days, your body is getting used to the idea and I find you stop craving it daily. At that point, you can either reward yourself, or keep going to see how much longer you can go. When I feel I've been indulging too much, this is what I do, it's just a small simple thing, it's only three days if you want it to only be three days, but I feel like it 'resets' my body :)Amanda @ Life with A.Cohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06025586220505577002noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4656562399418770725.post-76030889043664492532012-07-25T13:50:09.639-05:002012-07-25T13:50:09.639-05:00You look great in these outfits!
