Saturday Snaps: Hair Cut & Color

This morning, I headed to Michael Kemper salon to meet my new hair stylist, Chuck, who came highly recommended by my best friend Candice.

I was a little nervous at first, but I felt comfortable right away and he really took the time to go over what I wanted.  I asked him to keep me a brunette, give me a bit of a very subtle ombre look and also to not start any of my blonde highlights in my roots.

We decided to dye all of my roots with a demi-permanent color that's very close to my natura color (but slightly darker) and then drag that color though some pieces that were too blonde left over from previous dying.

Here I am when I first got there.
After the brown color was applied throughout all of my roots, Chuck used the same technique seasoned ombre pros use---he teased my hair and applied the blonde color only to the part left outside of the teased part. It looks a little scary, but it's awesome:

...and then your hair ends up looking like this:

But then, you leave the salon, like this:
(note the smile)

I am so thrilled to finally have my roots all one color and then lighter shades sweeping throughout the rest of my hair. Eventually, I think I'll be brave enough to do even more ombre throughout my ends, but for now, I am so thrilled with how it turned out. I atually really love how rich the brown looks. It's all soft and blended too, which is awesome.

I also had it trimmed, here's the back:

So glad I finally took the plunge and had my hair colored and cut! I'll take some pictures with my DSLR tomorrow.

Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend :)

You look lovely and the ombre is definitely a subtle yet beautiful change! I'm really tempted to do the same now :)

It looks great, Veronika! And I can tell just from the photos that you're way happier than what happened last time. I had no idea they did ombre by teasing the hair like that... learn something new everyday!

Looks beautiful! I love it darker, along the lines of your natural color ;) so much easier to maintain!

Your hair looks great! Completely natural-looking and subtle. I also love what you said in the previous post about asking for "Victorie's Secret model" hair at the salon-- sums it up perfectly.

Looks fantastic! I've never colored my hair, I'm scared to. I'll have to eventually because the greys are coming in. I'll reference your posts about hair color when its time for me to take the plunge.

WOW!! It looks great, V, and I love how much darker it is - really suits you (as the blonder version did before, as well - lucky girl!! :).

Interesting teasing technique, good to know!

Your hair looks gorgeous! If only I had had these photos today. I got my hair colored and while the result is okay, I think that some of the highlights are too yellow, so I'll be taking your pictures (along with some of your inspiration pics too) to the salon next time. Can't wait to see high def pics!

Btw, Johnny Ramirez works at the Neil George Salon, and everyone who does color there is amazing. I've never been lucky enough to go, but they post before and afters on their blog (http://neilgeorgeblog.com/) and the color always looks amazing. It's a great site for inspiration photos.

Love your ombre hair - I think the "teasing-before-highlighting" technique is crucial...I really DON'T like the DIY ombre hair styles where people end up with a harsh band of color at the bottom of their hair with no blending - not cute at all.

But your hair looks AMAZING - so glad you found someone who was able to do such a perfect job.
