The Best Kept Secret for Long Hair! Kerastase Cristalliste Giveaway

One of my favorite things to do on this blog is to share with you all my favorite, most holy-grail- worthy hair, makeup and skincare products.

That's why when Kerastase contacted me about trying out their new Cristalliste haircare line, it felt like a dream come true.  I'm a longtime fan of their products and have over the years used products from the pink, green and orange lines and have loved each and every one of them.

I've said this before, but I truly believe that Kerastase is one of the few haircare lines where they products consistently meet or exceed my expectations.  They do what they say they'll do and they are extremely targeted by hairtype for optimal results.

When Keratase told me their latest line was created especially for women with long hair, I was hopeful that they would be products that would help with my damaged lengths and ends, dryness, breakage, and so on.  Here's what Kerastase says about their new Cristalliste line:

Cristalliste contains a perfect proportion of care and cleansing agents to treat and embellish the hair, making it radiant from the roots to the ends. Cristalliste solves all the problems of long hair leaving hair purified at the root level while leaving ends moisturized, smoothed and polished:

· New generation of high foaming cleansers
· Hair is perfectly clean
· Roots are left pure and weightless
· Evenness of the hair fiber’s cuticle is restored
· Eco-friendly conditioning care agents
· Lengths and ends are smooth and polished
· A concentrated dose of amino-acids and vitamins
· Features Aloe Vera: a powerful natural moisturizer
· Enhances natural hair glow and shimmer

I have been using the line for more than a month now and I'm extremely happy with the products. Here's a breakdown of what I think about each product:

Cristalliste Shampoo- (Bain Cristal Fine or Bain Cristal Thick)
This shampoo is silicone, paraben and colorant free and safe for color-treated hair.  It is clear and smells really nice, which is always a bonus.  I feel that this shampoo cleanses well but doesn't strip the hair which is important for someone like me who struggles with dryness from coloring and styling.  I also love that even though it helps smooth the hair, it doesn't weigh it down whatsoever.   This shampoo really cleanses the roots and nourishes my ends, but I'm still going the same amount of time between washes as I was with any other shampoo I was using, which is wonderful.

Cristallliste Conditioner: (Lait Cristal Conditioner for Long Hair)
You know how your hair can get that "slip" feeling when you rinse out conditioner?  This one definitely delivers in that department. It is also silicone, paraben and colorant free as well as safe for color-treated hair.  I expected the formula to be richer or creamier for some reason, but it has a more mikly consistency.  This consistency, however, has not prevented it from delivering moisture to my ends and making my hair feel softer and smoother----it's supposed to leave your hair free-flowing and give it weightless shine and it really delivers.

Cristialliste Lumiere Liquide: (Luminous Perfecting Essence For Dry Lengths or Ends)
This is the standout product to me from the line. First off, it smells amazing. It kind of reminds me of waterlillies.  Very feminine and pretty. Even the bottle is pretty and it has landed itself a permanent space on my glass tray from West Elm because it's too pretty to hide in my drawer.  I apply two pumps of this to clean, wet, brushed-out hair.  I apply it from the nape of the neck, downward, focusing most on my ends.  This serum helps me achieve a soft, smooth blowout.  What surprises me most is that you cannot at all tell you've used a serum in your hair because it doesn't add any weight and there is no "residue" feeling that you sometimes feel with other products.  For some reason, you just don't get that "serum" feeling on your hair...but you get all the benefits of one, especially with how much smoother and easier hair is to style.

Kerastase Fibre Architecte:
This product was not sent to me, I purchased it from the Kerastase website, but I wanted to mention it because it is now a part of my blowout routine.  I use the Fibre Architecte on hair that is 80% dry.  I apply one or two pumps from the nape of my neck, down, again focusing on the ends of my hair.  Then I blow out my nearly-dry hair in sections with a roundbrush and set in velcro rollers.  This products helps to smooth and "seal" split ends and damage and also helps protect the cuticle of the hair from heat---it is a heat activated product so results are best when you apply heat to your hair immediately after using it.  I have also used this prior to curling my hair.

Kerastase Elixir Ultime:
This is not part of the Cristalliste line, but it's one of the products I have come to really appreciate because it has a multitude of uses.  I am using this once a week at night (on a night before I wash my hair the next morning) as a moisturizing oil treatment for my dry hair.  I can always feel a difference when I wash my hair after I've used it.  The smell is still something I'm getting used to as it's a bit stronger than the other products in the line, but it's not an unappealing scent either.  I also use this oil (just a teeny, tiny pump) on third or fourth day hair.  By this time, I've styled and re-styled my hair a few times with heat so my hair can start to look dry and lose it's shine from using dry shampoo and hairspray.  Applying just a tiny bit of this oil revives my hair a bit and restores shine and gloss to my hair so that it can last me another day before I need to wash it.  Less is more with this product, unless you are using it as a treatment.  I still plan to try it on wet hair before a blowout as I've heard that's a very popular application technique for this product.

And now, the most awesome part of this post---Kerastase is generously giving away 10 full-sized bottles of the Cristalliste Lumiere Liquide ($42 value each) on my blog! So 10 of you lucky ladies will get to try out one of the incredible Cristalliste products.

Since I've shared one of my best-kept secrets for healthy hair---to enter this contest, I want you to tell me, in the comments below YOUR Best Kept Secret for Healthy Hair.

Great giveaway! I haven't tried this line and would LOVE to try.

I blow-dry my hair a lot and maybe too much. So I make sure minimal blow-dryer time when possible. I wrap my hair in those micro-fibre turbin and get excess water absorbed as possible. Then spray the heat-tamer before blow-drying.

I have been following your blog for a while, found you on the F&B board on TheNest...love your style!

Like you, I go 2-3 days between washing, have long, color treated hair and have many of the same issues with damaged ends, etc. I have been using coconut oil from the nape down as a deep conditioner the night before I wash, and have seen a vast improvement in my hair texture. Soft, manageable...and very inexpensive!

I have found that not washing my hair on a daily basis and washing it at night allowing it to air dry instead of using a blow dryer have really helped to keep my hair healthier and less brittle!

I have never tried Kerastase, but feel like I have tried everything else and have an arsenal of products to keep my long hair looking healthy. My haircare secret is a one-two punch: Rusk Deepshine Smooth Keratin treatment and Davines Oi/Oil. I run the oil through my hair from nape to tip before I blow dry. These products have been total game changers, keeping my normally frizzy hair straight and tangle-free after blowouts.

Like you, I only wash my hair a couple of times a week and I take care to never blow dry and use the curling iron on my hair in the same day. I have super long hair and it keeps my hair healthy, as well as saving me time everyday by not having to wash, dry, and style every single morning!

I have been reading your blog for almost a year now and found you through a fellow blog friend.

I am currently growing out my hair for my upcoming November wedding. I have been washing my hair less often then I did before and have started using a conditioner. Also I use a heat-tamer like others have said. I put mine on when it is wet to blow-dry it and also when it is dry to straighten it. So far my hair has been reacting great but lately my hair has gotten a little worse for wear. I have been wanting to try this product line since you have talked about it. Thanks for your amazing giveaways!!

My best tips for healthy hair are:

1.I try not to use heat if I am not doing something special, and when I do, I try not to spend much times on the ends.
2.When you are getting the water out of your hair with towel, don't rub! Squeeze!! It keeps the cuticles smoother.
3.Absolutely love argan oil conditioner (leave it in for your whole shower!) and phyto universal elixir (for the scalp, but it's great for your hair as well)!

This is a great giveaway and I would love to try this for my long, curly hair.

I really hope I win!

I was always told growing up that in order to have voluminous hair that I had to blow dry it upside down. Up until recently, that's exactly what I did. But after getting my hair cut at a new salon, the stylist told me that's one of the worst things you can do. I had no idea! Using a nozzle on my hair and blow drying it with a round brush is one of the best things that I could have done.

I know that if I am able to win this awesome Keratase product that I will have even more beautiful hair after drying it!

Thanks for the giveaway!

The best way to keep nice moisturized and shiny is to use a coconut oil hair mask once in a while. (Depending on if you have dry or oil hair) - If you have oily hair, it's not going to make your hair more oily because it is a natural product. But its nice to just moisturize your hair and give it a little shine.
I have semi-dry hair, I love using coconut oil in my hair. I can tell a difference in how soft and moisturized it is. Especially in the winter. & it's all natural :)

I use the scrunchi because it doesn't tug on my hair or leave a crease in my hair. That's my "secret" and I also think it helps the oil from my hair from getting on my face at night as well.

I have long, naturally curly, dark hair that I get colored regularly. With that said, it is important that my hair is well conditioned and not over-styled. (I straighten and curl with an iron regularly!) I do my best to go at least every other day for washings, and I use the Suave Dry Shampoo that you recommended in between washes and LOVE it! I am always trying new ways to repair my damaged ends, and to keep my hair looking healthy!
I would love to try the Kerastase product line, and I believe that the Cristalliste Lumiere Liquide would be a good place to start! It sounds amazing!
I appreciate your blog and advice, keep up the great work!

I have long and SUPER thick hair and just tons of it so once a week I put coconut oil in it about an hour or two before a shower and let it soak in so that my hair is shiny and more manageable and also I only condition the bottom 3/4 of my hair to prevent premature oily roots. I need more help though so I would LOVE to win this!!!

Dear Veronika,

I came across your blog a week ago and i´m literally sucked in by your posts and been browsing your archive posts since then.

I been knowing the Kerastase products for a while. Here in Germany where I live you can buy them mostly at hairdressers. It´s great to get to know new products like the Cristialliste Lumiere Liquide. Haven´t seen that at my hairdressers yet. So winning would be absolutely cool even if I´m not sure if you would actually ship to Germany ;o).

My secret for beautiful hair is simply to do a hair mask every sunday while lying in my bathtub and to blow dry with my hairstruktur so you don´t get that fluffy puffed appearance on your hairtexture. So just don´t go like criss cross with your blow dryer and you get a much sleeker look. Small secret but quite effective in my eyes.

Have a nice sunday!

Great giveaway! I'm interested in purchasing these products even if I don't win because I've been trying to grow out my hair w/o having to encounter split ends, tangles, and those tiny knots on individual hair strands. Those are the most annoying as I'd have to cut them off, and they don't always knot at the very ends of my hair strands.

I have naturally straight hair that is on the thick side, so I think my best hair tip I have is to rarely use hot tools to dry or style my hair, brush my wet hair with a comb or hair brush but don't pull because it'll likely cause my hair strands to snap back and get knotted, and to also get frequent trims (I was so bad at this. I would go 6 months before I got a proper haircut! Yikes!)

Thanks for the giveaway opportunity!

First off -- couldn't be more excited about trying this line (whether I'm lucky enough to win or have to purchase on my own!)

Best hair secret -- not washing every day, letting my hair dry naturally once a week (the blowdryer just dries it out like crazy!) and using Redken's GUTS on my roots and an organic argan oil serum from the nape down before every blow dry. i also recently discovered One 'N Only Argan Oil Restorative Mask and i use it once a week. the amazing thing is that my hair is softer the second day after using-- love it!

This is awesome. Thanks for the opportunity. My secret for healthy hair is trimming your ends regularly. I think people tend to focus on growth and sometimes neglect damaged ends because they do not want to lose the length. I've made it a point to monitor my ends on a monthly basis and moisturize and/or trim them as needed. Healthy ends have helped keep the rest of my hair in tip top shape. If I win, I may be reached at getready2shop@yahoo.com.

Hey Veronika! Just found your YouTube channel and I love it! :) We're living in Norway for 2 years so I have very limited access to US products (we are WAY north in a very small town...but I do have a US /APO mailing address for the contest purposes. ) and your reviews are so helpful for my online shopping! Anyway, I also have long brown hair with the last of hideous highlights almost grown out. I also use coconut oil, but my technique is a little 'involved'. About once/month on 'wash days' after my workout at the gym I will quickly wet my hair in the shower and work the coconut oil in from the ends to the roots (ends are dry so they get prioritized), then loosely twist my hair on top of my head and sit in the steam room for 20-30 minutes ( you can do this at home by microwaving a moist towel and wrapping around your head). Then back to the shower to wash it out with Pureology Antifade complex and conditioner. Rinsing it with the coldest water you can stand is key - locks in the shine. *sidenote, I also rub the coconut oil all over my skin and wash it off with a body scrub - glow for the day! My hair feels so soft and luxurious! You can find coconut oil at any grocery store with the cooking oils. You could even use olive oil but the coconut oil just smells SO good. natalieinnorway2012@gmail.com

I have very long hair and a few secrets so I'll share them all! First, only shampoo your scalp - whatever shampoo that runs over the lengths of your hair is enough to clean without drying. Second, only condition from the hair by your ears down - this will prevent oily roots and also ensure volume at the roots because the conditioner won't weigh it down. Third, gently squeeze out excess water from your hair before applying conditioner - my hairstylist told me that this will prevent a ton of water from diluting the conditioner. Fourth, try to wash your hair once every other day to prevent excess stripping of natural oils. Fifth, take a biotin supplement to promote healthy growth of hair and nails. Sixth, eat a lot of foods with omega-3 fatty acids such as nuts and fish for shiny and healthy hair!

My hair is below my belly button and still very healthy so I hope someone takes some tips from my comment! My email is lovamyblog@gmail.com - thanks Veronika :).

My hair is probably 70% dry by that time so I am not drying it for as long as I would had I just gotten out of the shower.

Thanks- I too love Kerastase products! I have long asian hair, and the best tip was what mommy told me- use coconut oil as a mask. Hair smells lovely after shampooing and its the best conditioner!

Hi Veronika! I am dying to try the lumiere :) One of my fave hair secrets is to apply conditioner to my hair before going out in the sun. Kind of gives me a warm "solar" conditioning.

Thanks!

My best kept secret isn't anything ground breaking: avoid too much heat! I hardly ever blow dry my hair or use my hair straightener. I'm lucky to have straight hair and it curls slightly if I braid it so those are my two go-to hairstyles. The lack of damaging heat let's my hair go longer between trims and thus grow out faster.

These products sound amazing!
I think what has helped my hair stay healthy for longer is less washings! (I do dry shampoo on the in-between days). Also, purchasing salon quality, sulfate-free shampoo!

Oh my....great giveaway!!! I love Kerastase products! For me, using a leave in conditioner is the best thing I can do for my hair since it is dry like yours. I find my hair the silkiest when I use them! I still can't seem to get rid of the static and what not, so crossing my fingers I win this giveaway because I know how good Kerastase products are! (Just a little outside of what my bank account will allow on a regular basis!)
