A Painted House

Our home is nearly completely painted!  All that’s left are bedrooms and bathrooms.  I am so excited that our home now feels more like “us.”

We ended up choosing Benjamin Moore’s “Revere Pewter” for the majority of our home.  When your home is as open-concept as ours is, you really need to use a paint color that transitions well from space to space---so, because our kitchen, dining room and living room don’t have any walls in between them, we opted for something fresh, crisp and airy.

You may remember when I posted about choosing the perfect gray and I truly think that Revere Pewter is the lightest gray you can get that doesn’t have blue, green or purple undertones to it.  It truly is a clean, gorgeous light gray. It looks very…elegant. I guess that’s a good way to describe it. It’s also very subtle…but in a good way. It contrasts nicely against bright white trim, but it’s not dramatic like darker colors can be (we are saving those for the bedrooms).

The one thing we did add is an accent wall where the double doors go out to our balcony.  We wanted to have one wall that was a bit darker and we absolutely love it.  We love the color so much that we are also going to use it in our master bedroom and my closet. It’s Martha Stewart’s “Flagstone” matched to BEHR’s Ultra paint.

Here are some photos of our main living area and entryway:

Other colors we are using in our home will be:

Guest Bedroom & Bath: Fashion Gray by BEHR
Half Bath: Fashion Gray by BEHR
Master Bedroom & Closet: Flagstone by Martha Stewart
Master Bath: Seine by Valspar color matched to BEHR paint

More painting updates will come as they happen! I love that I can decorate more now and put artwork on the walls.  It feels good to have a home painted just like you want it.

Just as a side note, we hired painters (the same ones who painted half of our last home).  They do a great job and we have high ceilings so it can be hard for just the two of us to do it.  We really like how crisp and clean everything is when professionals do it, but of course it’s a total DIY project if you want it to be (we painted half of our last home).

xoxo,

Veronika.

  1. Looks beautiful! I love the color! We used a color called "Stonehenge Greige" around the house as an accent color and we love it.

    1. I had it on ISO 400---BUT I was just using my camera normally, not on a tripod with a remote. That is my main issue. I tried this morning to take pics on a lower ISO with my remote and they still suck and the coloring is off :(

  5. I know I posted on your FB about the paint color already, but I'm going to comment again. I LOVE the color!! Such a gorgeous neutral color! You've made my decision between revere pewter and cumulus cloud an easy one! Can't wait to paint our master bedroom. :-)

  7. Thanks so much for the pictures and the recommendations. We are currently building our first home and I have been stressing over what color gray to use. The Revere Pewter looks like the perfect shade. Can't wait to see more pictures!

  14. It looks great! I know it must feel amazing to have a large part of the painting done! I totally understand about hiring the pros, too! We have a few high ceilings in our town home that would have been super dangerous for us to paint ourselves, so we hired someone for those areas!

  15. Looks awesome!! Random question, but did you paint the ceilings that color too?

    1. Nope the ceiling is just an off white builder paint

  16. It looks so beautiful! Everything is so open, airy, and crisp. I love the way it looks when professionals paint as well. Every time we change the colors in our home, we opt for professionals simply because it looks so much better and we hate painting. Lol

    1. I don't post outdoor photos of it because it's very identifiable and I want to just protect our privacy in that regard. I know someone will say "if someone googled enough they could find out where you live" but I just don't like to put it out there because it's just one little thing I like to keep private :) hope everyone understands!

  25. LOVE grey walls! We did a very similar grey throughout or open floor plan condo a year+ ago using the Galveston Grey pallette (my mom is from Galveston, so the name was also a big plus!). We started with the darkest shade of the same color in our living where we have all floor-to-ceiling windows, transitioned to the medium shade into the kitchen where it's only partial windows, and then the lightest in the hallways where there are no windows. The whole thing looks like one continuous color because of it. With white trim and dark wood floors it's just beautiful...just like your place! =) Great pics.

  31. I really like that paint color! My husband and I just purchased our first home and I can't wait to move in and get started on painting. It gets a lot of light in every room so I think that a light gray like that without any undertones would look fantastic when the sunlight comes in.

  47. Indeed, the Revere Pewter shade is a commonly used color for open-concept interior designs. It is also known for having a calming and restoring ambiance when used on walls. In fact, using hues like Revere Pewter makes your pieces stand out. You mentioned you hired painters… Well, hiring painters can save you time, unnecessary mess, and energy. And, you can always suggest your preferences to them! By the way, what else from Benjamin Moore would you prefer for your next painting projects? Good luck on that.

  49. I am on the gray-go-round myself right now.

I had bypassed getting a sample of Revere Pewter because it looked so.... beige .... on the paint chip.... but I read where you said that, on the wall, it is grey. I am going to have white trim, white cabinets, black kitchen island, and maybe black doors. I want paint that looks gray, but, like you, do not want blue/lavendar/green. I think I will go get a sample on the way to the house....thanks for posting this!
