New Closet: Disaster to Workable

Hello everyone! Just a quick note to say that AT&T is FINALLY installing internet and U-Verse in our home tomorrow so things should be back to normal soon (now that I've missed the finales of Bachelor Pad, True Blood and Curb Your Enthusiasm...but that's neither here nor there).

I wanted to post this quick update of my closet progress. I spent the weekend organizing it because it was a massive cluster before. Exhibit A:

After:

You'll notice I removed the white dresser from the back of the closet. That area was meant for long dresses to be hung so that's what I used it for and it's perfect.  Instead, we are moving the white dresser into the office and purchasing the IKEA Hemnes Dresser that matches the one currently in our master bedroom. We are getting this one (it's the taller, thinner version of the other Hemnes dresser we have):

I think this will be the perfect addition to our bedroom as it's going on a wall where there is currently nothing.  We could put a chair or something against that wall, but this is much more functional.  Now, the H and I will have our own closets and our own dressers. I'm not against sharing, but having our own definitely makes for less cramming and clutter.

Future closet plans include paiting, possibly installing some kind of shelving or hooks on the bare wall to the right and maybe wallpapering one wall (modern, pretty wallpaper, nothing granny-like, no worries!)

What do you think of my closet so far?  I am just thrilled I can walk through it without stepping on things.

xoxo,

Veronika.

PS--- I have a tripod and a camera so I am going to try and film some videos this weekend.  I know I keep saying that, but now that I'll have internet I can actually upload them!

Wow!! Looks fantastic and so organized!!! Love it! I have that exact dresser (well, it's the hubs, not mine) and we changed the knobs out so it looks more expensive than it is - made a HUGE difference!! Congrats on the new house - it's absolutely GORGEOUS!!!! :)

Looks great, V! I love that you have all matching hangers; makes any closet look more swanky!

Love seeing this post - I just got my own walk-in closet, and I STILL haven't figured out how to arrange it - everything is neatly stored but not in the most efficient or pretty way. So glad for this inspiration - thanks!!!

Your closet looks great so far! I LOVE wallpaper...you should definitely do it! Or a stencil would be cute too if you don't want the expense of wallpaper:)

Everything is so organized and it looks great! You must be so relieved. I think wallpaper would look so pretty if you made the empty wall (to the right) and accent wall. Can't wait to see what you do with the rest of the place:)

thanks gracie :) I am not sure how I will add storage on that blank wall but I will figure something out :) I'd love to have something for belts and handbags!

I have the Hemnes dresser pictured - I love it! I love the storage baskets that you can buy for the drawers, too. Great for organizing smaller articles of clothing like sports bras, socks, etc.

I love the closet makeover. Can't wait to see the final product. Congrats on the new house. Can't wait to see more pics!

Just out of curiosity...what are those bags in the bag shelf that have chains to them? I've kind of been the hunt for a bag with a chain strap all thanks to Chloe's blog and drooling over her Fendi. Ha.

Di- from L-R is a Jacob Bag, Nine West bag and my Tory Burch Reva clutch bag.

I love bags w/ chains too!

I thought you had a lot more cloths than the picture showed. New closet looks great.

Veronika said...

Victoria- it looks like less clothes because they are in a Larger space now! I also used to share a closet and now I have my own so my husband's clothes used to be in my old photos. :)

First off your closet looks great, I totally wish i didn't live in LA :( We are currently looking for a home and even with the housing drop you can barely get a good condo for less than 400k ( good = your place). Anyways I didnt know you watched Curb and True Blood! You missed great episodes and even the finale of entourage :) Thank goodness for on demand.

@maria---yes LA has crazy-high housing prices. I can't imagine!

HBO on demand is KEY! I am catching up on all of our shows this weekend!
