Friday Evening Bloggin': Target Trip & Loving Kate Middleton

Two days in a row of blogging---I'm well on my way to breaking records here, people! (insert sarcasm here).

Today after work I stopped at Target because my co-worker was wearing the CUTEST Xhiliration dress from there and I just had to have it. It's a little short in the smaller sizes so I got a large and will belt it for optimum fit (plus, the large happened to be the only one left in the store, so it was meant to be) I love it when my co-workers come in wearing an great outfit and they tell me it's from Target. Three of us actually own a bunch of the exact same pieces so we always joke that all three of us should wear the same outfit to work one day, you know, just to be dorks.

Anyway, here is the dress:

I actually love the loose top, but the waist does need to be cinched a bit.  I have just the belt for it!  I wore a simple dress I got for about $14 at American Eagle when I was in Austin a month ago (below):
As you can see, I managed to make the dressing room look like a disaster.  Next up, I bought some Maybelline Falsies mascara (waterproof, of course). I'm not sure why, but I've heard some people rave about it and my curiosity got the better of me.  Have YOU tried it?

File this next item under "lately I've been loving..." It's Orly's "Frisky" nail polish that I mentioned in my first-ever haul video (watch it here).  Emily from Cupcakes & Cashmere inspired me to get it and I have to say the formula is amazing. Two coats is all you need for perfect, opaque coverage. The ONLY weird part is taking it off.  It took me a lot of remover/cotton rounds to take it off because it kind of spread the color onto my skin a little...it didn't "melt away seamlessly" like most polishes do (hey, no one's perfect, right?) I'm assuming because of the pigmentation of that color, it's a little "thicker" and thus makes it a little more difficult to remove. I now want to try a ton of other Orly polishes since Butter London's "No More Waity Katie" failed me in ways I don't even want to get into (okay, so maybe I will...horrible application, not a great color, worst nail polish to take off ever in my life...etc)

So, here's "Frisky." LOVE.

Now, you may be reading this wondering "what's Veronika up to on a Friday night?" Well ladies, the truth is, I'm hanging out with Kate Middleton

Because really, what the heck could be better than 80 pages of Middleton goodness?  I picked this up at Target because it was calling my name and I wanted to look at pretty pictures of Kate and this mag definitely delivers.  Here's some of the content so you get an idea of what this special fashion edition People magazine is all about:
HATS!!! DRESSES!!!! AMAZING HAIR!!!

Oh Kate, you make Fridays great. Now, more importantly, what are you up to on this lovely Friday night?

xoxo,

Veronika.

  1. Cute dresses!

I haven't tried the Falsies with Wings type but I tried the regular Maybelline Falsies mascara and didn't love it. I don't do waterproof and it seemed to smudge a lot more then my regular go to mascara (Maybelline.....the one in the yellow tube, Volume something) so I went back to what I know and love.

  2. I COMPLETELY agree with you on the "No More Waity Katie"!! I was so disappointed with that polish, especially since I'd paid $14 for it! And I have to get that People magazine you're looking at! I'm totally Kate obsessed! :)

  3. I also didn't love the falsies. I thought it was a very wet formula and smudged under my eyes. I actually don't like drugstore mascar and have been loving Clinique's mascara for a few years now. I'd like to try Benefit's Their Real, TiffanyD raved about it!

  4. Are you watching the Hallmark Movie about them tomorrow?

  5. No one seems to like No more waity Katie and it actually makes me feel assured that my somewhat negative review was spot on and not a fluke! It could have been so pretty, but the formula is heinous!

Love the target dress :) I have one that fits very similarly. Like you, I sized up because it was way too short (not a problem I'm used to!)

  9. I didn't like the Falsies mascara at all. It just didn't seem anything special. I love the CoverGirl LashBlast and Maybelline's Volume Express One-By-One. As far as high-end goes, I love Benefit's They're Real and Tarte's Lights Camera Lashes. Soooo good!

Love the nail polish color, by the way! :)

  10. I use the Maybelline falsies flare mascara and really like it, although I do prefer the regular falsies mascara better.

Cute dress! Have a great weekend!

  13. I was actually in Target today and looking at a cute dress from Xhiliration (not the one you got though). I decided against it because I live on the east coast and fall weather is approaching fast (as is hurricane Irene), so I figured I didn't need a summery dress right now.

I've never tried the Falsies flared but I didn't enjoy the regular Falsies. I love Maybelline's One by One though. In fact, after I got One by One, I threw out all of my other mascaras and just kept it and Bare Escentual's Buxom Lash, which is my non drugstore favorite.

Hope you have a great weekend :)

  18. Haha, what a fun night with a fashion mag - and KM has such wonderful taste! I spent my Friday night at a dance concert and socializing with friends. ;-)

  19. I just bought the new sept in style and that's my date for friday night =)

The falsies flared is an average mascara. I like the original version better. If I had to buy drugstore mascara, it would probably be the Covergirl LashBlast.

  20. I love that nail polish color!! I also need that issue of People asap. I've never tried the falsies, but I love Tarte's Lights Camera Lashes.

  21. I love Kate Middleton, especially for her down to earth fashion choices. I wouldn't think British royalty could represent the every day woman, but she does.

And I cannot wait for Canada to get Target!!

  22. I so have to agree about the BL No more Waity Katie. I am still horrified by the streaks, then clumps as I tried to apply it. Definitely returning it to Ulta.

  23. Ah, I love Kate! Right after the royal wedding, they introduced this makeup line at Target called Boots No.7. They claimed that Kate wore it on her wedding day. Of course I have no idea if that's true, but it certainly enticed me enough to buy a lipgloss from the brand:)

  24. cute dresses! Target always seems to have large sizes left when I shop there. They have such nice clothes but I never buy them b.c they are too big. I love those hats that Kate wears. I just wish that would catch on here in the US because I would love to start wearing them to a wedding or something. P.S your legs are looking awesome- you are my workout inspiration!

  25. So funny, I just picked up that magazine last night at the grocery store, but will be spending my Saturday afternoon in the hurricane Irene madness reading it and many others I picked up. That target dress is super cute. I'll have to search my local store for it.

  29. Hi Veronika! I follow your blog all the time and know your love of Kate Middleton. I just received an email from NY&CO last week about their new line that bases it off Kate's clothes! They have tons of outfits and you can dress just like her. It's super elegant and very feminine. Not really NY&CO's normal style, but I love it all!

If you're thinking of dressing up for Halloween, you should be Kate! All you would need is a cute outfit from this line, or something simular, and a cute fancy fake sapphire ring and viola! You would make a perfect Kate! And if H is feeling generous, he could be William!

Also, I've tried the Falsies mascara, and I hated it. The brush wasn't thick enough for my lashes to seperate them perfectly. I switched back to my first mascara love, Collosal by Maybelline. It's in the bright yellow bottle. AMAZING.

    Good luck!
