Haul Video: Ulta Shopping Trip

Hello ladies!  Hope everyone is having a great weekend.  I totally just filmed a haul video. Yup. My first ever real YouTube video.

It has been requested for a long time now that I do videos and though it was admittedly a little awkward at first, I really got into it eventually and I enjoyed making it.  You know what this means, there will be a curling tutorial one day since I know how to film now...though I filmed in my closet and I have no idea how I can have my curling iron in there...so I may have to find another location to film.

A few notes: my video ends abruptly because YouTube will only let me have 10 minutes and it was 11:27.  But I got through everything in my haul so that's good. Sorry about the horrible lighting (my hair looks lighter IRL) and about the constant "umms" in the video. I realize it sounds awful but I guess I was nervous being that it was my first time filming (and it's uh...kind of weird to talk to your camera at first...but by the end I was just going on and on like it was nothin')

Anyway,  if you have any video requests let me know in the comments below! I thought it would be fun to do a closet tour and a home tour too. I will work on lighting and try to film somewhere else next time. I hate when it's all dark and dingy.

xoxo,

Veronika.

PS- I think I need to start using my DSLR to film videos from now on...but I need to figure out how to do it...more to come on that.  I am using a FlipCam right now and I just think the software doesn't allow for editing like I'd like it to.

  9. Hi Veronika - I started reading your blog recently and really enjoy it. You did a great job on your first video! Since you mentioned you are a big Kate Middleton fan, I wondered if you know about this web site that shows pictures of Kate and her fashion often including info about the brand/designer: http://whatkatewore.com/
    Enjoy!

  10. I get on YouTube all the time and watch the first couple minutes of beauty haul videos but this was the first one I've EVER watched from start to finish, I'm so glad you made it! I felt like you said just enough about each product- you were very informative and honest but concise enough where you didn't lose me. Good job, keep them coming!

  13. yay! i'm so happy you made a video! just a little tip, for your little trial size thickening hairspray. use it on wet hair! i use about three sprays around my roots and i really like it! it doesn't smell really good but i like the way it makes my hair have a little extra thick feeling! :)

  15. Veronika,

I rushed to Ulta to pick up No More Waity Katie when they featured it in their circular. I had to hunt all over the store for it because the salesgirl couldn't tell me where it was. Just when I had given up hope, I spotted it by the resister, so I can relate. Ulta did just start carrying Butter, its only been about 2-3 months I think. Just an FYI, I had to do about 3 coats to get even coverage.

I am a huge Kate Middleton fan too. She's so classic and elegant. Have you checked out this blog: http://whatkatewore.com/ ?

Hoep you enjoy your new polish as much as I did! :)

  22. So good! That was definitely a haul!! Lol. I use the thickening spray and love it. I spritz damp hair a few times at the crown. Works amazingly. I found after switching to a lot if Bb products that the sprays gave me better body and volume than creams and mousses. Hope you like it! My stylist also talked me into the new shine shampoo. Love. It doesn't weigh me down like I feared. Quick question... I'm wanting more highlights, and I'm wondering how you convey what you wanted to your colorist. We have similar coloring and styling, and your color is exactly what I want.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Congrats on your first video haul!! The macadamia hair mask is one of my favorites! I also really love that Butter nailpolish color. So pretty :) xo

  24. I was so excited to see your video today! Thanks so mych for doing one :) You did really awesome and you didn't seem nervous at all.

  25. That was a good first video Veronika! My only suggestion is to smile more..you didn't light up until you started talking about Kate LOL.

Sorry for the anon..can't log into blogger!

  26. Love the video! Its strange to hear your voice as when I've been reading your blog for so long you start to create a imaginary voice. I would love to see a whats in my purse bag and follow me arounds :) xx

  27. Yea! I have been waiting for you to make videos! Beware though, they are addicting to make! Then again since we all apparently want more of them from you, that's a good thing!

  30. Anon you literally have to bring in a photo of exactly what you want your highlights to look like! Photos are more accurate than words in conveying what you want :) good luck!

  36. Loved it!! I watch LisaLisaD1 videos all the time, and hers run as long as 30 minutes sometimes. I wonder how she is able to get hers to fit if you could only do 10 minutes?? Anyway, love your purchases and oh em gee that Butter polish is gorgy! :)

    ReplyDelete
  37. You're doing great! We can see indeed at the start you're nervous, and after that you feel confident. And you certainly light up when you're talking about the Butter nail polish made after Kate!! You should do some more of these. I love product reviews on video...or you can show us your closet? Which by the way, I love the color of it.

  42. Great video! I've been following your blog for so long. It's nice to actually hear your voice. I thought for sure u would have some kind of accent, but I didn't detect one!!

  43. Long time reader, rare commenter! You did such a great job- so fun to put a voice with the face! You are too adorable!

    ReplyDelete
  44. Love the video! If you get a chance, look into 'it's a 10 miracle mask'. Amazon has some on sale and I love it!

    ReplyDelete
  45. Funny that you said you are a huge fan of Kate Middleton because when I found/started reading your blog, I immediately thought how much you remind me of her!!

    ReplyDelete
  46. So fun to put a voice to a face! For some reason I pictured you having a higher pitched voice...isn't that funny!? You were great...very concise and informative! Loved it! :)

  47. Love the video! So excited for you to do more! You'll like the Butter London polish, I pre-ordered the same shade and they even came out with a matching lip gloss. I wasn't sure I would like it because its lavender, the same as the polish but I love it. It's such a perfect neutral shade. The only bummer with the nail polish is that for me it chips a little sooner then I would like : /

I'm excited to hear back on that Macadamia Hair mask. I have followed another blogger who isn't crazy about their hair oil (the one that's supposed to be like Moroccan Oil) so I hope this turns out to be better.

    Thanks for the video!

    Angelina : )

  52. I am so thrilled you did your 1st vlog!! You did a great job and I am totally looking forward to more in the future! please, please, please keep it up!!!

    ReplyDelete
  53. Good job on the video! It's so much easier to watch these types of videos when the person is well-spoken and enunciates as well as you do.

Btw, the Got2B powder is NOTHING like baby powder. So please keep that in mind when you do your review. I haven't tried that particular product but it is very similar to other brands I've tried: Aveda's Pure Abundance Hair Potion, Big Sexy Hair's Powder Play, and Schwartzkopf's Dust It. But it sounds much more reasonably priced!

AMAZING products but not even remotely like baby powder other than both products are powder. It creates tremendous volume... but it's a matte product. Your hair will not be shiny where you sprinkle it (at the roots). Use too much and your hair becomes very tangled. If you slightly tease with the product, it is crazy ridiculous volume. But you won't get your fingers through it. And the texture of your hair takes some getting used to. It also isn't good to travel with the product because it can liquify and then it's useless.

  54. It's so funny to finally hear your voice! Loved the video, and thanks for the tips on the hair products. I have super fine hair and it always looks weighed down even though I use volumizing shampoo and barely use conditioner.

    ReplyDelete
  55. I would never guess that this was your first video blog! I agree that you are very well spoken and you seem really confident.

How long have you been living in Texas? I know that you were raised in Canada, but I can hear a southern twang in your voice (and your nonchalant use of "ya'll"), so I'd guess you've been living there for quite some time.

    ReplyDelete
  56. @diana---I've lived here for 4 years now :)

  57. That was great! You did so good. Are you going to start doing tutorials? If so, can you do one on polishing nails? Thanks!

  58. Loved the video! I feel we got more insight about your products than we would have otherwise. :)

    Keep them coming, please!

  59. V- you are too cute! I love it. The 5:38 mark nearly brought me to tears, I laughed so hard. I was similarly traumatized when they completely discontinued my Benefit facial cream except I didn't get the rumor warning. lol! Great haul.

  63. V, I absolutely LOVED your video! You sound so sophisticated and grounded, especially for your first video! It's always great to hear the voice and see the mannerisms of your fave bloggers, and I really think everyone will like you even more after seeing your video!

  65. Awesome job Veronika! You are very well-spoken, I think you should go into TV hosting.

Just a not about Guts 10, it was recalled due to a problem with the spray pump, not a problem with the product itself. I own a hair salon and carry Redken products, so no worries about the product.

May I recommend a product for you? I love, love, love Soy Renewal by Big Sexy, it's part of their Health Sexy line. It's an oil that has soy proteins and Argan oil. It's truly a miracle product. It adds an incredible amount of shine and is great for dry ends. It moisturizes and smooths down frizz and can also be used as a heat protectant before styling. You can use it on wet or dry hair.

It looks like you have a lot of great products to try but I thought I'd throw it out there.

  70. I am a recently new reader of your blog. I found you through 9to5chic. Loving your blog and great video! Let us know how the products are! I've heard great things about the macadamia nut masque. I have a few Butter nail polishes - their formula is great and tends to last longer on my nails than essie and opi. -Emily
